Two minutes before sunrise in Ecclesall woods

Tiny field recording: dawn chorus, owl hoots, bluebells and a mysterious rustle/20th May 2023, 04.48hrs.

Air full of pollen. Woodland musk. Swathes of waking bluebells. Not one other person encountered. And the last twenty minutes of the dawn chorus.

Like being in a wild auditorium, birdsong rippling through cells, reaching a crescendo in the two minutes before sunrise. Call and response of blackbirds, wrens, wood pigeons, blue tits, long tailed tits, tawny owl and more.

Listen carefully for the rustle sound at the beginning, I think it was a deer hidden in between the trees behind me.

Magical early morning. Back in bed by 6.30am. This feels like living.
